Architecture 401: Design Studio V

This architecture studio at the University of New Mexico investigated urban theories and strategies for designing civic buildings, housing, urban and rural landscapes, infrastructure, and public policy to improve the lives of marginalized populations. Students were introduced to a number of individuals and organizations worldwide who have used design for social good. They were then tasked with designing portable housing and a community building for Santo Domingo, NM. Portions of the student’s work were reviewed with community stakeholders in the course of ongoing design dialogue and will inform ongoing discussions and design/build processes.
